Selfish

Erm, 'twas my birthday yesterday, I'm now twenty four whole years old.
I feel so shy about all the attention, I didn't even tell anyone at work, but they found out anyway, so I got flowers and of course a rousing version of 'happy birthday'.

The gathering I had on Sunday with my family and friends was just right - low key, warm, really uplifting. Everyone was so generous with both time and gifts - a rose from my friend's garden, a gorgeous pair of earrings chosen by my dad (which makes them all the more special), candles which are filling the living room with the most delicious aroma. I received so many Japanese inspired cards - very touching, it's obvious that I wear my heart on my sleeve!
My sister made fudgey caramel filled cupcakes, all stacked with candles on top - so sweet.

Stu of course came through in fine form, he gave me the most wonderful card, filled with the most beautiful words, took me to a Japanese restaurant for dinner (I found out that I like eel!), bought me a book (Across the Nightingale Floor - looks amazing), a dvd (naughty), and got Foxtel connected (I'm ridiculously excited, now I can watch the Lifestyle channel whenever I want! And we really like the Girls of the Playboy Mansion - so cute and stupid!)
Even the cat bought me a card, conceding that I may be in charge for the day - Stu tried to get a paw print from him, but that just became a bit of a blob - poor fat cat.

So all in all, a lovely few days!

Plus, as my birthday reminded me that I want to avoid the inexorable ravages of time, I took a trip to the Clinique counter, did the whole facial analysis dealie, and bought one of just about everything. I was expecting to see eyebrows arched in judgement at the state of my skin, but the lovely lady there said that I had a silky smooth complexion, with no problems that she could see - what a great surprise for someone who grew up with awful acne, punctuated with the ugliest bout of chicken pox you're ever likely to see.

And my manager today actually described me as a 'high flyer'. Can you imagine it? Me, flying high!

Ah, what a great week.

Important questions

If the wrapper on gum says that one piece contains 15 kilojoules, is that before or after swallowing? Do you chew out all the goodness, leaving nothing but calorie free goo?
If that's the case, why don't they sell 'calorie free goo' as some kind of appetite suppressant?

Also, how funny is Hambo?

Birthday!

'Tis the birthday of the cutest dresser in all the land, Jickitia.

Wish her well guys! Though, it may be difficult, 'cause it's a Live Space page, and I think you have to sign up. So at least light a candle, blow it out, and make a wish for Jicks.

Hugs and kisses girl!
